E-learning design made simple by a new website

Teachers, trainers and stakeholders in the Australian vocational education and training system can now benefit from the latest tips on developing and delivering e-learning programs thanks to a new website.

‘Designing e-learning’, developed and launched by the 2005 Australian Flexible Learning Framework, simplifies the way people can use e-learning tools and resources in online, campus or workplace settings.

The website offers simple guidelines for developing e-learning courses, and includes case studies of successful e-learning programs and a detailed guide to online assessment.

The website includes the following four main sections to demonstrate how e-learning can be used to engage learners, provide flexibility and improve the quality of learning in vocational education and training:

  • Gallery of strategies: an A–Z showcase and guide to the full range of e-learning activities;
  • Learning design: ‘show and tell’ stories of successful e-learning, plus guidelines;
  • Assessing online: a comprehensive step-by-step guide for vocational education and training professionals;
  • Further information: useful links and resources.

The assessing online section looks at the requirements of the Australian Quality Training Framework and includes a ‘stages and tasks’ guide, case studies and comprehensive research in current models and practices for online assessment.

The website could possibly be used in the future for professional development in registered training organisations around Australia.
