NTIS will soon be replaced

The National Training Information Service (NTIS) system is due to be replaced by a new system - Training.gov.au.

Training.gov.au will fulfil all of the services currently provided by NTIS, and will replace NTIS to become the authoritative national register for the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

This is due to take place in July 2011. In practice, what this will mean for NTIS users is:

  • The www.ntis.gov.au URL address will be replaced by www.training.gov.au. All web pages within the NTIS website will be automatically redirected to the www.training.gov.au URL address.
  • The NTIS gazette will no longer be emailed to recipients to notify them of updates to training products and registered training organisations (RTOs). Training.gov.au will have a new feature that will replace this role. Known as 'Notifications', this feature will allow you to choose exactly which training products and RTOs you wish to keep track of. Then, when one of these training products or RTOs is updated, you will be automatically sent an email notifying you of the change.
  • NTIS web services will be replaced by Training.gov.au web services. For consumers of NTIS web services, you will have to make modifications to your web service application, in order to be able to communicate with the new Training.gov.au web service. NTIS web services will continue to be available for a limited period of time after Training.gov.au is launched in July 2011. However NTIS web services will be permanently decommissioned after a transition period. It is anticipated this will occur towards the end of 2011. Further information about the date NTIS will no longer be available will be provided over the coming months.
